Everybody Has a Backup. Fewer People Have One That Works.

Lazer IT Consultants provides backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity for businesses across Palm Desert, Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage, La Quinta, Indio, and the greater Coachella Valley.

Almost every company we take over has a backup running. Far fewer have one that has ever been restored. That's not the same thing, and the day you find out which one you have is the worst possible day to find out.

Backups fail quietly. A drive fills up. A job stops running after an update and never says anything. A folder gets excluded during a reorganization and nobody notices for two years. Meanwhile there's a green checkmark on a screen nobody looks at, and everyone assumes it's handled.

We build backup systems that get tested, stored where ransomware can't reach them, and documented with a recovery time you actually know. Then we prove it works before you need it to.

How Our Backup and Recovery Works

1 WE TEST RESTORES, NOT JUST BACKUPS A status email that says the job completed is not proof. We perform real test restores on a schedule and document the results, so you know your recovery works because somebody did it — not because a checkbox was green.
2 OFFSITE AND RANSOMWARE-PROOF A backup on a drive in the same building doesn't survive fire, flood, theft, or an attacker who encrypts everything he can reach. Your data goes offsite in immutable copies that can't be altered or deleted, even by someone with full access to your network.
3 EVERYTHING, NOT JUST YOUR FILES Files are the easy part. We also back up server configurations, firewall rules, switch configs, and system images — the things that take days to rebuild from scratch while everyone waits. Restoring documents isn't the same as restoring a business.
4 A RECOVERY TIME YOU ACTUALLY KNOW Not "we'd get you back up." An actual number, in writing, with a documented plan naming who does what and who gets called first. For most of our clients we can have critical systems running again in about an hour.

Why Coachella Valley Businesses Choose Lazer IT

  • We prove it before you need it — Documented test restores on a schedule. You'll know your recovery works, and so will your insurance carrier.
  • Ransomware can't reach it — Immutable offsite copies. Attackers now hunt for backups first, because a company that can restore doesn't pay.
  • We answer in 5 minutes — A live person, not a ticket form or a queue. On the day you need a restore, that matters more than usual.
  • Onsite within the hour — Same techs, same faces. Some recoveries need hands on the hardware.
  • Included, not upsold — Backup and recovery is part of our managed plans, not a separate line item you can accidentally decline.
  • No lock-in — Month-to-month available, 90-day risk-free guarantee. Your data and your documentation belong to you.

What's Actually at Stake

1 A BACKUP THAT DOESN'T RESTORE Three to ten days rebuilding files, contracts, and records from email, partner copies, and memory. Some of it never comes back at all. This is the most common failure in our industry and almost nobody knows they have it.
2 RANSOMWARE THAT TOOK THE BACKUP TOO Modern attacks target backups deliberately before encrypting anything else. If your only copy is reachable from your network, it's part of the attack surface, not your recovery plan.
3 THE REBUILD NOBODY BUDGETED FOR You restored the files, but the server configuration, firewall rules, and application settings are gone. That's days of work by somebody billing hourly while your team sits idle.
4 AN INSURANCE CLAIM THAT GETS QUESTIONED Cyber policies ask whether backups are tested and stored offsite. If the answer on your application doesn't match reality, the carrier has grounds to push back at exactly the wrong moment.

Working With a Local Partner You Can Actually Reach

When you call Lazer IT, you get a technician who already knows your network, and you'll recognize the voice. We're a small local team, we're 20 minutes from your office instead of 2,000 miles away, and we've never outsourced a help desk ticket to a third party in fifteen years of doing this.

On the day you need a restore, that's not a nice-to-have. That's the whole thing.

Free Guide: 21 Questions to Ask Before You Hand Anyone the Keys to Your Network

Four of the twenty-one questions are about backup and recovery specifically — offsite storage, tested restores, configuration backups, and whether there's a written recovery plan with a known recovery time. Use it on us or on anybody else you're considering.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between backup and disaster recovery?

Backup is a copy of your data. Disaster recovery is the plan and the capability to get your business running again — which involves the data, but also servers, configurations, applications, access, and a documented order of operations. Plenty of companies have the first and not the second, and they find out the difference during an outage.

How do I know if my current backup actually works?

Ask when the last test restore was performed, and ask to see the result. Not a status report showing the job completed — an actual restore of actual data. If nobody can answer that question, you don't have a verified backup. That single question is the most useful thing in this whole page.

How fast can you restore our systems?

For most of our managed clients, critical systems are running again in about an hour. The honest answer for any business depends on how much data you have, what failed, and whether we designed the environment. We'll give you a real number for your setup rather than a marketing one.

Is Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace already backed up?

Not in the way most people assume. Both protect against their own infrastructure failing, but neither fully protects you from a deleted mailbox after retention expires, a ransomware-encrypted file sync, or a departing employee wiping a shared drive. File sync is not backup — if a file gets encrypted or deleted, sync faithfully replicates that everywhere. We back these platforms up separately.

What does immutable backup mean?

It means the backup copies cannot be modified or deleted for a set period, even by an administrator or an attacker with full credentials. This matters because ransomware groups now search for and destroy backups before encrypting anything, specifically so you have no option but to pay. Immutable copies remove that leverage.

Do you back up more than just files?

Yes. Server configurations, firewall and switch configs, system images, virtual machines, application settings, and cloud platforms. Restoring documents is the easy part of a recovery. Rebuilding an environment from scratch is what turns a one-day outage into a one-week one.

How often are backups taken?

It depends on how much work you can afford to lose. A business that can redo an hour of data entry has different needs than one that can't lose a single transaction. We size the schedule around that answer, then document it so everyone knows what the plan actually is.

Will this help with our cyber insurance application?

Yes. Carriers now ask specifically about offsite storage, testing, and immutability. We implement those controls and provide documentation of test restores, so your renewal answers are accurate and supportable rather than optimistic.
